Here's one we put together

It started with the printed dress. Once we had that, we looked for pieces that would carry it through a week: a blazer for the office, a pair of jeans for the weekend, and a cropped denim jacket for warmer days. Three outfits came out of those four pieces, and yours would come together the same way, around your measurements and your vibe.

Our standards

What we look for

We hold every piece to the same list before it goes into a box. A good photo doesn't get anything a pass.

What gets in

  • +Good cloth firstFabric with some weight to it that still holds its shape
  • +Sound where it mattersWe check the underarms, seams, lining and closures by hand
  • +A cut you'd wear nowIt has to fit into your week rather than look like a costume
  • +Kept with careClearly worn and clearly looked after, with plenty of life left

What doesn't

  • −Underarm damageIt's the most common problem in older clothes and there's no fixing it
  • −Shattered silkOld silk that tears the moment you handle it
  • −Tired elasticWaistbands and cuffs that have lost their stretch
  • −Anything we can't describe honestlyIf we're not sure what something is, we leave it where we found it
